Remember my review for that killer elevator film called The Lift? Well now let's take a minute to discuss it's American Remake (also directed by Dick Mass) titled Down.
Down centers around a 102 floor building in New York City. After it's struck by lightning things start to get a little strange. One of the elevators traps a couple of pregnant women and sends them to the hospital.
Elevator repairmen Mark and Jeff are called to the scene but determine nothing is wrong. As they are checking on the elevator they meet Jennifer a reporter covering the story.
The elevator ends up killing a blind man and his seeing eye dog, as well as the security guard who finds them. Shortly after that a roller skater is thrown to her death. After a little but if investigating they learn the elevator was made by a man named Gunther Steinberg who was working on reproducing computer chips using dolphin brains.
The company behind the production of these elevators does not take kindly to these people snooping around and soon frame them as terrorists.
While I so prefer the original this is still a fun machine run amuck film and does make for a great double feature with The Lift.
Also put out by Blue Underground the transfer and audio scan are near perfect. And it's also loaded up with special features
Another great title to add to your collection and one that I do recommend checking out.The acting is fantastic and the practical gore effects are done very well.
Overall 2.5 out of 5 Stars
