The following Blu-ray was provided to me by Warner Brothers for review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have to say upfront I was tailor made for Oceans 8. I was never really a fan of the George Clooney series (I did however like the original with The Rat Pack), and I don't mind reboots with a female cast. Yes I am that one guy who actually was amused by Ghostbusters. So when I saw that Oceans 8 was a sudo sequel with a female cast I was curious to watch it.
Oceans 8 stars Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean. She's the sister of Danny Ocean (George Clooney), who we learn has passed away between films. She's fresh out of prison for her involvement in an art scheme gone wrong. While she was doing her time she devised a plan to steal a necklace with a value of 150 million dollars. To do this she has to recruit her old partner, played by Cate Blanchett to assist her. The two then recruit a team of women to help them pull this off
The cast by the way is star studded to say the least. Her team consists of Helen Bonham Carter as Rose, a fashion designer. Mindy Kaling as Amita, a jeweler maker. Rihanna as Nina, a hacker. Awkwafina as Constance, a pickpocket/hustler. And Sarah Paulson as Tammy, who is another stand out in this film as she plays a mom who fences stolen goods out of her family home. Ann Hathaway is also fantastic as Daphnie, a ditzy actress the group plan to use as a patsy.
The cast is fantastic. Sandra Bullock is absolutely amazing in het role as Debbie Ocean. This is truly her film as she steals every scene she is in. the chemistry between these lady's is great. It's charming in every sense of the word and Dow right funny as well. Well it is a seriously planned heist film it never takes itself too seriously, so the laughs come at a fast pace
Warner Brothers has released this on Blu-ray and digital and it looks great. The picture and sound quality are second to none. It really does look better that it did at the theater. It also contains special features.
A Heist in Heels - Featuruette
Ocean's Team 3.0 - Featurette
Reimagining the Met Gala
You don't have to be a fan of the Clooney trilogy to enjoy this fun film. It's a laugh from top to bottom and a great way to spend an evening. I recommended you pick this up and watch it today.
