Siberia Blu-ray Review

8/29/2018

Picture
Keanu Reeves is one a role lately in term of action films. Man of Tai Chi, and the 2 John Wick films were  standouts in the action department so when I heard he was playing diamond smuggler in Siberia I could not wait to see it.

Reeves is Lucas Hill, a diamond smuggler who heads off to St. Petersburg to sell a cache of diamonds to a Russian gangster. Unfortunately for Lucas his partner who has the diamonds doesn't show. Lucas howery is able to convince the buyers to give him a few days while he heads to Siberia to find out what happened to his partner.

When he gets there he heads off to a bar and meets a young woman named Katya. I'll make this quick, the have sex and fall in love even though Lucas is married. After that plays out for about an hour the Russians come looking for their diamonds

This is one long dull film. Filled with neither suspense, or much action Siberia moves along at a snail's pace. Reeves tried his best to make things work but he's been thrust into such a action star lately he seems out of place and waster here

Is it a bad film? No, it's just slow and lacking suspense. If your a fan of Keanu Reeves films it's worth checking out just to watch him try to make this all work. Sadly it doesn't help much

Overall 2 out of 5 stars
