Young Sheldon Season 1 Blu-ray Review

8/28/2018

The following Blu-ray was provided to me by Warner Brothers for review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

When the Big Bang Theory hit it big it was no sunrise that a spin-off would be made. There were plenty of characters who could have had a simplistic sitcom on their own. When the spin-off became a prequel. The new show would show us how Sheldon Cooper spent his childhood with his family. The show was called Young Sheldon and it became an instant hit.

Young Sheldon is Narrated by Jim Parson's, who of course plans Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory, and stars Iain Armitage as young Shelton Cooper. He's 9 years old and he's getting ready to start high school. His brother is not fond of this as he is currently in high school and not looking forward to his little brother joining him. Sheldon's dad is a stereotypical Texas Football nut who coaches High school football. Sheldon's mom, like she is portrayed on Big Bang is a religious.nuy who doesn't understand Sheldon but loves him unconditionally. Rounding out the family is Sheldon's twin sister, and his Memaw (grandmother) who Sheldon favors the most.

You would think Sheldon has Asperger's as he is always running off at the mouth. Sadly he's not the most likeable character out there. He's a brainy no it all, but not in the quirky charming way his adult self is on Big Bang. However this is his childhood, so we are watching him grow.

The show is basic sitcom stuff. Episodes include Sheldon using his mathmatic skills to help his dad win football games. Sheldon choking on a sausage and developing a fear of solid food. And of course when we find out Sheldon's bully is a little girl.

Nothing here is going to revolutionize television but it's still a funny sitcom, which is something tv is lacking in my opinion.

Warner Brothers has just released the first season on Blu-ray and DVD and I must admit I watched all of the episodes in 3 days. I had a good time as it reminded me of a typical show I would watch in the 80s, when sitcoms were on every night.

Worth watching and picking up, not only if your a fan of the Big Bang Theory but if you just want to pass the time and laugh for a while. It's fun for the entire family and I do recommended it.

Overall 3 out of 5 stars
