Catwoman is a Gotham City burglar who typically wears a tight, one-piece outfit and uses a bullwhip for a weapon. She was originally characterized as a supervillain and adversary of Batman, but she has been featured in a series since the 1990s which portrays her as an antiheroine, often doing the wrong things for the right reasons.
Catwoman was ranked 11th on IGN's list of the "Top 100 Comic Book Villains of All Time",and 51st on Wizard magazine's "100 Greatest Villains of All Time" list.Conversely, she was ranked 20th on IGN's "Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of All Time" list
There have been many different versions of the Catwoman's look. It's changed over the years in the comics. It's more stylised for her part in the movies, and a cross between the original comic version and cartoon in the animated series. Diamond Select Toys has been making Femme Fatale statues based off their animated versions and statues based off movie and comic versions of characters as well. This Catwoman, although modded after her new look seems to be a combination of comic book and Femme Fatale
Looking at the head the first thing I noticed was the trademark longer jaw line that all of these characters were drawn with. She has the mask and goggles she wears in the new comics as well as in the video games. The goggles are fantastic. You can see through them but they have a blue, yellow, silver tint about them just like real lenses would. The eyes underneith are great. Perfectly detailed to the pupils and eyebrows. The lips Are painted a dark red to give it that femme fatale look with just a touch of the mouth open.
Her body is done just like the comic as well. Dressed in her charcoal black and silver trimmed outfit everything is a match. I really like the darker black used for the boots and gloves. It gives it a more bold look that really pops out as opposed to a simply all black outfit. The same can be said about the silver belt buckle, which actually gives the statue more depth. The body is anatomically correct but in an animated way. As opposed to seeing all the muscle lines what you have is a sleek statue of a woman. The curves are all there just in that comic style. The hands look great as each finger is sculpted out showing the firm grip on the cat style base. I like how the arms, the right hand and the casual placement of the left hand resting on the opposites bicep. It really is an exact match for her comic book counterpart.
From the back you get yet another shot of the boots Notice how her heels are up with tip of boots pointing down on the right leg and how the hell is up and twisted to the side on the left leg. That combined with her finger tips being placed on the base you get the perfect look of not only a stelth pose, but the impression she is ready to spring into action. I can't complement Diamond Select Toys enough when it comes to placement on their satues. The nuance about them is so beautiful they really have a 3D look and feel. You can also see her old school belt, which holds her trusty leather whip which sticks out in a full 3D style Her boots are a shiny black and you can see every stretch and line in the spandex style costume.
The base is really neat to say the least. It's a gig Egyptian Cat statue that she's perched on top of. It's a dull gold color giving it a look as if it were found in an old museum. The entire head is sculpted exactly like the old statues you would see. From the deep eyes, to the long nose, even the hoop style earrings on it give it a real world look
This is a great statue for fans of the coming book works of the DC Universe. It has its own style that is spot on to it's counterpart yet different enough to be in a category all it's own. It's a must own for anyone who loves DC or Superheroes in general.
Overall 5 out of 5 Stars
