Diamond Select Toys as you know makes my favorite statues. I review them all the time here. Did you know they also make action figures? They do, and there very well done. If you’re a parent there pretty great because there durable, posable, based off your kids favorite characters and a lot of fun. They also have this weird trick you can pull on your kids. These figures come with display bases or set pieces. Tell you kid how cool they look and when their done playing and he will put it on its little stand thus eliminating a mess. I thought I would start doing reviews of these figures along with the statues I normally cover as they are awesome, collectable, and as a parent I cant tell you how fun they are for kids.
Up first for the day is The Incredible Hulk as you can see its packaged in the clear bubble plastic making the figure fully visible. It tells you what it is on the side and the back card is designed bright and colorful you can see the background is designed with images of the Hulk. The bottom left hand where the characters name is features a nuclear symbol (Hulk made from gamma radiation). If you’re a collector that does not open these it has the standard hook on the top of the package so they can be tacked onto a wall with no issue if you still want to show it off.
After about 5 minutes of unwrapping this guy, yes he’s in there with those annoying twist ties and bands both I was able to get him out. He’s a very big and heavy figure, which he should be as he is the Hulk. The design is amazing. Leaps and bounds above a normal action figure you get at a big box store. You can see in the pics below how well sculpted and shaded he is. All the bulging muscles and a bright color green with tons of shading and battle marks to really make it look exactly like the character. The trademark ripped plum colored shorts are all frayed around the waist and legs. Each toe, and finger on the fist is fully detailed.
The arms and legs move up and down like a standard figure as do the hands and feet. Hulk bends in the legs and arms as well as twists in the waist. The head moves as well. He’s a big figure that’s designed to be overly muscular so he moves a bit stiffer than the others my son and I played with.
Speaking of his head I took a pic of it to show the detail that goes into these things. Squinty eyes, etched in bowl haircut the growling mouth, and the biggest neck I have ever seen on an action figure. His neck muscles are so huge the head only turns part ways to the sides it’s a really great concept for a figure of the Hulk.
I also took a quick shot of the base and feet. The base is a smashed up piece of rubble with the two pegs on each side that the Hulks feet press into. As I said these are highly detailed so displaying them is almost like having a small statue set up. I actually have a Ghost Rider figure in my display case with other ghost rider statues and it looks right at home.
My son play’s with Hulk, and the other’s every single day. That’s saying something as he is normally not an action figure guy. He used to only play with the WWE wrestling figures. He still does, but the other day Roman Reigns got beat up by Hulk. These are amazing figures that you should buy either to collect or for your kids to play with. There much more durable than any figure I have ever come across. You can beat them like crazy and they don’t break or scratch. Throw in the fact they look amazing and you have a great toy or collectable for any age. And remember. Display base means kids should pick it up. Mine does.
Overall 4 out of 5 Stars
