The Green Goblin is a Halloween-themed supervillain whose weapons resemble bats, ghosts and jack-o'-lanterns. Comics journalist and historian Mike Conroy writes of the character: "Of all the costumed villains who've plagued Spider-Man over the years, the most flat-out unhinged and terrifying of them all is the Green Goblin. Originally the Goblin was Norman Osbourne who after exposure to the goblin formula goes mad and becomes the Green Goblin he also becomes one of Spider-Mans’ greatest foes. Killing Gwen Stacey before he himself is killed, and later revived the Goblin has been a thorn in Spiderman’s side for years
The Green Goblin has always been a favorite character of mine. He has bombs that look like pumpkins, dresses like a Halloween costumed demon, has pointy boots and flies around on a glider. What’s not love about this guy, other than the fact he wants to kill Spiderman. Diamond Select Toys has done a great job with this figure, which is also an amazing display piece as well. My son does Display it, but that’s after he plays non stop with it, like he does all his Diamond Select toys.
Blister packed with a clear front so you can proudly see the figure on his glider, with Peter Parker all tied up. It’s got the name on the left side with a big pumpkin logo on the bottom, not blocking any of the figure, and the backing is a design of Green Goblin splash pages. It’s got the tab on the front in case you want to hang it without damage. It’s a really neat display figure made all the more cooler because the pumpkin has an evil face and fire all around it.
Taking the figure out of the box and setting up you can see how amazing it looks. The shading alone on the Goblin is amazing making it look almost realistic. Rome the leg muscles to the menacing mouth to the purple in the outfit that’s colored in various shaded with black added its just amazing. Positioned on an early version of his glider and carrying a tied up Peter, whose cloths have ripped to expose his Spiderman costume this is beautiful. It’s hard to believe it’s a toy.
Just look at this guy. His big yellow evil eyes with the little black dot in the center and the big pointy ears accented by the purple hat the face is a dead ringer. The entire thing is great. The shading of the purple part of the costume is my favorite. Dark, light, and medium colors of purple mixed with dark and light black give it a battle worn and shaded look, and well as really highlighting the bright green, mixed with touches of yellow and black in the rest of the outfit. The teeth are all sculpted as are the fingers. He has a pumpkin bomb that you can see in the first shot, but it fell off for this one. Now I keep forgetting I’m talking about a toy, so yes he can be played with. The arms head, waist, and legs do move so you can play with him. One thing though the knees do not bend on this figure so his legs although they move in the thigh area do not bend down so it will stay in the crouched position.
The main reason for his legs staying this way are for the glider placement. His pointy boots slide under the plastic straps and mount on little pegs from the holes on the bottom of his boots. The glider, which other figures can fit on perfectly in the old school version which is a simple black goblin head cutout. It’s a very cool accessory that is fun to play with.
Last I want you to get a look at the Peter Parker figure. Now this does not move in any way, but look how well its done. The grimacing face, the ripped up cloths revealing the costume underneath the street cloths, the clutched hands. Its all shaded and sculpted perfectly. Its looks exactly like the Amazing Spiderman 39 comic book cover.
This is another great toy for play or display. Diamond Select makes the best designed, and most durable toys out there today. My son just loves playing with these for hours on end, then setting them up for display in his room. There just amazing products from top to bottom
Overall 4.5 out of 5 Stars
