Cats Eye Blu-ray Review

11/9/2017

Picture
Cats Eye has always been one of the most overlooked anthology films ever made. Based on two short stories from Stephen King's Nightshift book, and featuring James Woods, and Drew Barrymore it's one of the better horror films of the 80's.

It centers around a stray cat who keeps hearing the screams of a young child. At the beginning he is caught by a man and used to demonstrate what happens if you smoke in the story "Ouitters Inc" which centers on a company that will help you stop smoking. The catch is, they encourage you to stop by making sure bad things happen to your loved ones if you don't. It's a fun, yet disturbing story to say the least.

The cat does escape and winds up in the hands of a Mobster in "The Ledge". This story centers around a crime boss who is also a degenerate gambler. He forces a man to climb across a skyscraper ledge. Once again the cat manages to get away and at the end locates the girl who he has heard screaming.

He story is called "General" which we learn is the cat's name. Turns out he is this girl's cat and get put outside every night by her mother. He is trying to get back in as an evil troll has entered the house and he's trying to kill the little girl.

Not as popular as Creepshow, but in my opinion a much better film. It has recently been released on Blu Ray by Umbrella Entertainment and let me say the transfer looks amazing. Great picture and great sound highlight a great film.

Overall 3.5 out of 5 Stars
