I wont lie, back in 2011 when Conan came out I loved it. Sure it didn't have Arnold, but that was ok. It had a typical story you would find in the old comics, it was full of action, basically everything it should have been. The issue is people never gave it a chance once they heard no Arnold they refused to watch it, thus killing it at the US Box Office and that was a shame.
The story starts with Conan as a young boy, who watches his entire family and village get murdered and destroyed by Khalar Zym who wants one of the pieces of the Mask of Acheron, which was split among various tribes. Conan, the only survivor vows revenge.
We flash forward years later and find Conan still looking for Zym, who is now with his daughter Marique, a powerful sorceress who needs the blood of a pure girl named Tamara to activate the power of the mask so Zym can harness it and rule the world.
Conan of course saves Tamara from a group of sand soldiers in a fantastic fight scene, she is however later taken and Conan must resucue her from Zym's lair where he must battle everything from guards to monsters.
The film is everything a fan of sword and sorcery and action would want. Fantastic visuals, great practical and cgi effects topped with a great story it's a sure fire crowd pleaser.
As it didn't do well box office wise a sequel will probably not happen, but Lionsgate did just release this on a beautiful 4k Ultra disc that looks and sounds breathtaking.
If you've passed this by,now's your chance to see the best visual presentation yet. Its great, pick it up today
