Daphne and Velma Blu-ray Review

5/30/2018

The following Blu-ray was provided to me by Warner Brothers for review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
I never liked Scooby-Doo, ever. Didn't as a kid, don't as an adult. But I was curious when I heard Daphnie and Velma we're getting their own film.

There is no Fred and his dumb neckerchief. No burnt out jughead hippy named Shaggie. And no stupid talking dog who eats treat named Scooby-Doo. And man, I must say the movie was better without them.

Daphy and Velma takes place at Ridge Valley High. It's a school for really smart tech savvy kids. Velma, who in this incarnation has hacking skills galore. Daphnie is an online friend of Velma's who is transferring there.

Everything seems cool untill students start disappearing and returning later as mindless zombies. Daphnie smells a mystery and her and Velma work together for the first time to solve it and save the day.

Watching the two in highschool was fun, as you basically watch them hone their detective skills into what you see on the cartoon. It's a very kid friendly girl power type film, which is good if your watching with small kids. My only issue is it plays like a Nickelodeon, or Disney type made for tv film. I think it would be more interesting had it played like say Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Overall fans of Scooby-Doo will enjoy it, and it is a nice family film to watch. I liked it, and at a lean 80min it held my interest throughout.

Overall 2.5 out of 5 Stars
