Deep Blue Sea 2 Blu-ray Review

5/6/2018

The following Blu-ray was provided to me by Warner Brothers for review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

First thing first, I enjoyed the insane shark film Deep Blue Sea. In fact I re-watched it right before sitting down for Deep Blue Sea 2. Turns out I didn't have to as part 2 is completely off the rails nuts. And I don't mean that in a bad way.

Much like part one Deep Blue Sea 2 features a massive underwater facility where experiments are being conducted on sharks. Not just any sharks mind you, but Bull Sharks. See the man behind this operation is a business tycoon named Carl Durant. He is pretty nuts when it comes to his doomsday theory's and thinks the key to outwitting AI is through enhanced Bull Shark Intelligence.

Well things don't usually work out good in these films and the shark's get super intelligence, and start hunting down all the humans including a shark expert named Misty Calhoun who came to see if the shark's are being treated ok.

The gore is very well done in a nice over the top way. I enjoyed how the film doesn't take itself to seriously I mean there is even a part in the film where you see a group of sharks working out a plan of attack.

Not hokey like say Sharknado, Deep Blue Sea 2 is still a goofy film, and that's good. The acting and effects are both well done, and nothing takes itself to seriously. If your a fan of underwater films or creature films in general this is a really fun one to watch. If you somehow have never seen the first one it's ok, you don't need to, but I do recommend you watch it at some point.

Overall 3 out of 5 Stars
