Fear The Walking Dead Season 3 Blu-ray Review

3/8/2018

Picture
Fear The Walking Dead, when it first began on AMC was a simple spin off / prologue to the massively popular The Walking Dead. It tells the story, in the beginning of the start of the Zombie Apocalypse. Set primarily in California it was a way to get to know a family, basically a new group of survivors.

The first season of the show was pretty slow, and basically, in my opinion just a way to cash in on the Walking Dead franchise. However, whereas Walking Dead was frantically paced in the beginning, Fear The Walking Dead just basically seemed to drag on and on.

However things started to pick up a bit come the second season, and now the third season seems to solidify that the show has moved past a spin off and has cemented itself as a horror show all it's own.

Season 3 is definitely the most exciting season to date, as it has a Day of the Dead type feel to it at times. The Clark family has been taken by a group of soldiers who conduct experiments on hapless people who wander into there area. They do escape very early on and through we are introduced to rival camps and different areas set up in the growing wastelands since the zombie outbreak began.

Proctor John, the leader of a group of survivors known as The Proctor's is the main antagonist in this season as the story focuses on the shortage of water and the groups efforts to take over/secure a water dam that they have discovered.

Adding tension, and upping the gore and action, Fear The Walking Dead in my opinion is passing The Walking Dead in terms of suspense and overall quality story telling. The make up is just as amazing in this show as it's predesessor and now that the characters have become established you find yourself caring more about them.

The 3rd season will be available on Blu-ray on March 13th and the transfer looks amazing. The production values alone are film quality so by adding the amazing transfer Lionsgate did this is the best way to watch, and or relive this 3 epic season as we get ready for season 4

Overall 3 out of 5 Stars
