Game Night Blu-ray Review

5/20/2018

Picture
The following Blu-ray was provided to me by Warner Brothers for review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
I had the chance to sit down and watch Game Night, the Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams comedy and I must say it features a lot of laugh out loud moments.

Bateman plays Max an overly competitive gamer. He meets and marries Amy a fellow gamer.  They host weekly gamenights at their house while avoiding their police officer neighbor Gary ( played perfectly by Jessie Plemons) who stopped being invited after his wife divorced him.

Everything is going fine until Max's brother Brooks arrives. He's a rich, good looking successful guy that Max has always been jealous of. Brooks offers to host game night at his house the following week promising a night they will never forget.

Brooks has set up a kindnapping game. Someone will crash in durring the evening and kidnap one of the players. The first couple to solve the clues and find said player will win a classic Corvette Stingray. As the night progresses two men come in and kidnao Brooks, only problem is it's a real kidnapping.

Twists, turns humor, and a great cast make this a really fun and original film. Bateman is fine playing his usual schlub type role, and McAdams does well as his wife. However it's Lamorne Morris who steals the film as Kevin, one of their married friends with weho is obsessed his wife had an affair with a celebrity.

It's a fun story with a great cast and a few clever turns as well. Running a lean 90min it never feels like it's slowing down. A great pick when you want to watch a comedy.

Overall 3 out of 5 Stars
