Gun Shy Review

10/30/2017

Picture
Teenage Ass Patrol is an awesome name for a metal song, and sadly it's the high point of the new Antonio Banderas film Gun Shy.

Banderas plays Turk Landry, former base player for Metal Assassin, who big hit was "Teenage Ass Patrol". Turk left the group so he could marry his supermodel girlfriend Sheila. As Turk spends his days essentially drinking and watching TV Sheila suggests they go on vacation to Chile where he was born.

Once there she is kidnapped while on a sightseeing tour, and as the kidnappers realize who she is, demand 1 million dollars for her return. Turk is fine paying the money, but the Government beleive the kidnappers are terrorists and will not pay ransom to them.

What follows is Turk hooking up with a recovery expert and one of his assistants to try and get Sheila back. Sidenote Sheila is in no real danger from her kidnappers as it turns out they are big fans of Metal Assassin.

The film trys to blend action and comedy much the way The Big Hit did, but unfortunately most of it falls flat. Banderas does fine in his role, as do the rest of the cast, but nothing seems to really click. Granted blending the two together can be a challenge, but I must admit I was hoping for more with Gun Shy

Overall 2 out of 5 Stars!
