Return of the Kung-Fu Trailers of Fury

3/1/2017

I like trailers, in fact I love them.  Cool thing is, especially with old trailers they not only show you essentially the entire film, but their often better than the film itself.  You know what else I like?  Kung-Fu movies.  I don't have a ton of great memories from my childhood but one I do have is that every Sunday on USA I would watch Kung-Fu Theater.  I studied martial arts for over half my life, and it was not because my friends were doing it, or because I wanted to learn to protect myself, it was because of my love of martial arts films.

Severin Films brought us a very cool trailer Blu-ray last year entitled Kung-Fu Trailers of Fury.  This year they are back with Return of Kung-Fu Trailers of Fury!  And le me say its just as great as the first.

35 original trailers are here, from Golden Harvest to Shaw Brothers, in all their classic high kicking glory.  Lots of these trailers feature no dialogue just music and sound effects.  In fact in one of the greatest disclaimers ever, during one trailer a flash on the screen says "The most realistic action ever filmed" it then shows a man jump on a sword another man is holding and fil off of it.

It does include, and man I was excited, the trailer for Yellow-Faced Tiger, a film boasting it was filmed in American, but all the dialogue is in Cantonese.  This film, which is hard to come by starred Don Wong, who was being touted as the next Bruce Lee, in fact Chuck Norris even plays the bad guys enforcer in this film as he did in Return of the Dragon.

This is a lot of fun to watch, and even features commentary from Ric Meyers, Frank Djeng, Greg Schiller, and Rick Stelow.

If your a fan of old trailers, or Kung Fu movies this is definitely a must own.

Overall 3 out of 5 Stars!
