Scream For Help Blu-ray Review

9/21/2018

Picture
Back in 1984 Tom Holland, the genius behind the greatest vampire movie ever made (Fright Night) wrote the screenplay for Scream For Help. It's a Brittish thriller that was well received for it's suspense and acting when it came out.

It's about a girl named Christie, a normal teenager who's mother Karen has just gotten remarried. He stepfather is Paul, a man who she doesn't trust, and for good reason. She finds out that he's been cheating on her mother with a young woman named Brenda. She tells her mother but Paul assures her that Brenda is one of his clients. Karen believes him.

Well it turns out cheating is not the only thing Paul is up to. Christie, after almost dying realizes that Paul is trying to kill her mother so her can get  her money. He's smart enough to know that Christie would inherit everything so he plans on killing her as well.
The film has even more to offer with a plot twist in the middle and an amazing home invasion to close out the final act. I don't want to get into it as I dont want to spoil the film for you.

Fast paced, well acted, and we'll directed, Scream For Help still holds up to the day as a nail bitting thriller. It's actually, in my opinion better than most thrillers that have come out in recent years. The setting and score have as much to do with that as everything else as it makes everything come together.

Scream for Help received a small VHS release during the big horror boom of the late 80s but was never put on DVD. Well now thanks to the fantastic folks at Scream Factory it's getting the Blu-ray treatment it deserves.

Boasting amazing crisp audio and the always great Scream Factory transfer, the film looks like it was made yesterday. Fully restored and gorgeous. And yes, it's got there always great bag of special features.
