Supernatural Season 13 Blu-ray Review

8/24/2018

The following Blu-ray was provided to me by Warner Brothers for review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

Supernatural is a show that just keeps chugging along. The last several years I've basically just watched it out of habit. It was supposed to end after Season 5 when they defeated Lucifer, but high ratings meant tacking on a quick scene and continuing the show.

Now in season 13 we find Sam and Dean recovering from losing there long dead mom again. They are essentially raising Jack who is the son of Lucifer. Lucifer for the first few episodes is trapped on a other earth with Mary (Sam and Deans mom) he of course escapes and begins tracking down his son.

The main plot point in this season is the other earth. Old friends are brought back in the form of Bobby and Rowena as Sam and Dean try to rescue there mom and save the people she has befriended on this other earth as it is being destroyed by the Demons that dwell there

A lot of it is the same old same old that we have seen before. There is the usual monster of the week but this season is one of the more episodic with only one stand alone episode. That is Scooby-Natural an episode that makes the whole season worthwhile.

Sam and Dean are given a cursed tv and when they start watching Scooby Doo they get zapped into the show. Dean is a huge fan so he is over joyed and immediately begins hitting on Daphne. They decide to help the Scooby gang with a case that soon turns out to be real. It's increadibly fun to watch Fred and Shaggy actually get frightened as it's a real demon this time actually killing people and not just a guy in a mask.  The animation is spot on and this is an episode every Scooby Doo and horror fan in general should watch.

With that said I would recommend picking up this Blu Ray set as it looks fantastic. The cartoon episode looks amazing. If your a fan you will add this to your collection. If you have never seen Supernatural this is not a jumping on season. You should definitely check out the Scooby-Natural episode but go back and watch the show from the first season .

Overall 2.5 out of 5 Stars (5 Stars for the Scooby-Natural episode however)
