Tag Blu-ray Review

9/6/2018

The following Blu-ray was provided to me by Warner Brothers for review. Thoughts and opinions are my own

A film based on a true story of a group of guys who play a lifelong game of tag seems a but odd. It also should tell you as it's a true story it's going to have sadness, because no true story is ever a pure comedy. Well I'm proud to say in the case of Tag the seriousness doesn't hit till the last 15min or so.

Tag centers around a group of guys, Hogan, Randy, Bob, Kevin, and Jerry. When they were nine years old they started playing tag. They would set an amount if days and make it a season. Lat person tagged would be it the following year. Now as adults they learn Jerry is going to retire from the game as he is getting married. Also Jerry has never once been tagged. This leads the others to team up and try to tag him so he will have to play again next season.

They go after him at an AA Meeting, his house, even a golf course all to no avail. There last chance will be to get him at his wedding.

The cast is outstanding. Jeremy Renner is great as Jerry, displaying his athletic prowess to avoid being tagged. He plays his part almost like he does as Hawkeye in the Avenger films. Ed Helms also shines as Hogan. His charm and love for his friends keeps everything held together.

The film moves along at a rapid pace and the laughs, primarily in the form of sight gags come flying one after another. It's also got a few twists and turns so you wont really know the ending untill you see the film.

Warner Brothers has done there usual great transfer in this Blu-ray, as the audio and video look fantastic. It's got a fantastic sound track that blasts through your surround sound.

Fans of both comedy, and feel good buddy films should definitely check this one out. It will make you laugh, and yes it will tug at your heart strings just a bit. Go pick it up.

Overall 3 out of 5 Stars
