9/12/2017

Picture
"What I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you"

That is without question one of the most famous lines from a current action film. It is of course Liam Neeson talking to his daughters kidnapper over the phone in the movie Taken. Those of you who watched the film know Liam, or Bryan Mills as he's know in the film series uses these special skills to hunt his daughters kidnapers down and dispose of them one by one and in the end save her. But where is it that Bryan learned these skills? That's what we learn in Taken The Series

Airing on NBC Taken The Series tells the story of a young Brian Mills, played by Clive Standon who is a former Green Beret who's sister is murdered. Turns out Bryan had killed a drug Lord when in the service and this may have been retaliation. Luckily for Bryan a special division of The National Intelligence Agency has been keeping tabs on him and recrute him into there shadow division .

Using his anger and the vengance he seeks for his sisters murder they are able to train him and give him those special skills that will come in handy for him in the future. The rest of the season focuses on the teams attempt to apprehend a drug Lord/terrorist. This takes many twist including the old government conspiracy story.

Overall the cast works well, and fans of the films will enjoy it. It has a cliffhanger ending but rest assured it has been renewed for season 2. Luc Besson the director of the first film is one of the producers and it's clear that he is hands on as the action scenes, of which there are many are all top notch. From car chases, to shoot outs, to hand to hand combat, each episode features a nice amount of action.

Lionsgate has released the first season on Blu-ray and if your a fan of the series it's definitely one to watch. If your just a fan of action and espionage films this show is right up your alley as well

Overall 2.5 out of 5 Stars
