Terminator 2 4K Review

7/26/2018

Picture
Let's be honest do I really need to do a write up reviewing Terminator 2? I mean everyone here has seen it. Hell my son is 9 and he's seen it. It was a fantastic film. I personally preferred the first but 2 is a real spectacle to watch. It was the first film to do complete motion capture. It set the standard for visual effects, and now it's on 4K.

In this sequel set eleven years after "The Terminator," young John Connor (Edward Furlong), the key to civilization's victory over a future robot uprising, is the target of the shape-shifting T-1000 (Robert Patrick), a Terminator sent from the future to kill him. Another Terminator, the revamped T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), has been sent back to protect the boy. As John and his mother (Linda Hamilton) go on the run with the T-800, the boy forms an unexpected bond with the robot.

There quick synopsis and my review of the film would be 4 out of 5 Stars. It's really good. I have it on DVD, Blu-ray, and now 4K. Is it worth another upgrade? Of course.

You can see ever wrinkle in Arnold's leather jacket, every strand of hair from Linda Hamilton blowing in the wind. You can even here Furlong's whiney voice echoing through your speakers. It's a fantastic upgrade.

However, James Cameron oversaw this transfer and he likes to tinker with things. A lot of the lighting and colors have been altered. This one has a lot of that midnight blue color and his popular orange tint in certain scenes. If you have seen or own the European disc this is very very close to a direct port.

It's still a nice upgrade and if your a fan, like everyone is you should pick this up  It came out at a very reasonable price for 4K and most places have it on sale for 13.00. so it's definitely something to add to your growing 4K collection. Another collectors version was released that includes a replica of the Terminator arm. That one runs a bit more at 90.00 Personally I would spend the money. The arm is pretty amazing.

Go ahead and pick it up. It's a good upgrade at a good price.

Overall review of the 4k transfer 3 out of 4 Stars
