The following Blu-ray set was provided to me by Warner Brothers for review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Big Bang Theory was a huge hit for CBS. A show about a couple of nerdy scientists who live next door to a waitress and have a few fellow nerd friends over in the evenings led to comedic gold. Running for 12 season and finishing its run with 279 episodes the show was a commercial and critical hit. It spawned a spin off series in the form of Young Sheldon and massive amounts of merchandise. The show earned 7 Emmy Awards during its span. It came to an end on May 16 2019 and Warner Brothers is celebrating the show with a bang (No pun intended). They have released a must own Complete Series Box Set which is available for this holiday season.
It would be next to impossible to review each episode so I will give you a quick breakdown. Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) are two Physicist’s who live together in a Los Angels apartment that has no working elevator. They are social awkward and spend their evening playing games and reading comic books with their two equally nerdy friends, Howard Walowitz (Simon Helberg) a self-proclaimed ladies’ man who lives with his mother, and Raj Koothrappail (Kunal Nayyar) and Astrophysicist who is so afraid of women he can only speak to them when he’s been drinking. It typical sitcom fashion their world is turned upside down when Penny (no last name given played by Kaley Cucco) a waitress at the Cheesecake Factory who moved from Nebraska to try and be an actress moves in across the hall from them. She immediately becomes an obsession of Leonard’s, and at first a nuisance to Sheldon, although they all end up becoming friends. Over the course of the shows run we meet Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch) a microbiologist who eventually marries Howard, and Amy Farah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) a Neuroscientist who becomes Sheldon’s love interest.
The show was semi Linear in that storylines did continue throughout and older episodes would be referenced, but it still has the sitcom episode of the week formula as well. There is nothing I can say that would do this show justice as it’s the quirks of the characters that make everything flow. One thing I will stress is how well the characters evolved without losing any of their original charm. Penny and Leonard become husband and wife, Howard finds true love with Bernadette, Raj learns to speak to women. And Sheldon even ends up marrying Amy Farah Fowler. As ever character evolved in both their personal life and carrier life (in the show) they always were able to maintain the same dynamic, which is unheard of in sitcoms.
With the show having come to an end Warner Brothers is releasing a massive box set of the complete series. Which is not only a must own for fans, but if you have never watched the show this is the set to buy to do a massive binge. Warner Brothers, as always has done an amazing job with the transfer it terms of looks and sound. Not only do you get all 279 episodes, you get all of this as well.

This was a fantastic show, and I was truly sad to see it end. A great cast of quirky characters that made me laugh for 12 years. It is definitely a show you need to see, as you will not be disappointed. This set is so fantastic it truly is a must own. I recommend picking one up asap before they are all gone.
Overall 4.5 out of 5 Stars!
