The Creep Behind The Camera Review

8/28/2017

Picture

Ever hear of The Creeping Terror? No you say? Ever seen the Mystery Science Theatre episode where they make fun of a trash bag looking monster with what appears to be socks glues to the outside of it. I thought you would know that one. That's the Creeping Terror.

It considered one of the worst movies ever made. Not fun bad like say Attack of the Killer Tomatoes it's bad like poop on your shoes bad.

It's about 2 trash like slug aliens that crash land on earth and terrorize a small town, well more like terrorize 6 or 7 people. The star of this film Vic Savage is the sheriff who must save the day. His acting may be horrible but as he wrote, produced, and directed it only makes sense he star as well.

The film has a 2.1 rating on IMDB. It's dull, cheap, horribly acted, are there are tons of scenes that have zero dialogue. Turns out Vic filmed a lot of stuff wring and just gave a guy a couple bucks to read narration over the film. He also skipped town before the film came out because he was about to be sued for embezzlement and fraud. Yes the back story is quiet facinating.

Luckily we can see that backstory through The Creep Behind the Camera. A film all about Art Nelson aka Vic Savage. Where as Ed Wood is a nice fun little film about a cross dressing director Creep Behind the Camera is a much different tone.

Vic is a horrible human being. He dreams of heading to Hollywood to make a big hit monster film, but we just can't root for him. Not because he uses the soon to be infamous Charles Manson to get a few cars from or the fact he swindles people out of money to invest in his crap film, but for the simple fact he likes to beat his wife.

He beats her, burns her, films porn, takes about every illegal drug out there, swindles people, strong arms morons, everything a creep would do to get his film financed. Josh Phillips is fantastic in his leading role as Art Nelson and Jodi Lynn Thomas shines as Lou's Wiseman.

Played seriously but with just a hint of camp do to the over the top nature of the film Creep Behind the Camera is definitely a facinating must see film. Synapse has picked up the rights to it and have released it in Blu-ray and as an added bonus have included a new transfer of The Creeping Terror, as Weill as these other special features
