The Delinquents

If there is one thing I am a huge fan of it's Greaser Movies.  Those cool 1950 Juvenile Delinquent films that were all the rage for a while.  Part exploitation, part public service announcement.  One that I really enjoyed was The Delinquents.  I actually had a poster of this one for a while.  I loved how it said "The Hoods of Tomorrow and the Gun Molls of the Future.  It was pretty cool.

The film focuses on Scotty and Janice.  Two young kids in love.  But the problem is Janice's parent hate Scotty because he hangs with a bad crowd.  One night at the drive in Scotty gets fingered by a gang for slashing their hot rods tires.  He didn't do it, and things are broken up by Cholly.  He leads another greaser gang who Scotty and Janice become friends with.  Cholly is such a nice thug he even pretends to be Janice's new boyfriend so he can take her out so she can hook up with Scotty.

Unfortunately as these films go Scotty and Janice have a falling out with Cholly's gang who then go after the two.  It even climaxes with the staple of a 50's delinquent film, the dreaded switchblade fight.

Like I stated before I always was a fan of this film.  One of the main reasons I knew about it was I happened to stumble upon it and after recognizing the actor who played Scotty I decided to go back and watch the film from beginning to end.  In case your wondering who that young actor was it's none other than Tom Laughlin aka Billy Jack,

Yes, That Billy Jack, the series of a Kung Fu Activist, or whatever the hell those things were supposed to be.  Side note, if you like those films, check out The Born Losers.  It's the first film he appears as Billy Jack, and its a danm fine 70's biker film.

So now you have Billy Jack in a 50's Juvenile Delinquent film, what more do you need.  Hot Rod's, Switchblade fights, everything.  Olive films has released this o Blu-ray and I must say this is one of the best transfers they have done so far.  Everything about it was crisp and clear.

Overall this is blast.  Go pick it up
