4/16/2017

Picture
The Girl With All The Gifts, which is based on the novel of the same name, tells the story of how the world has been ravaged by a fungal disease. This causes the infected to turn into mindless zombies. Their known as "hungriest" as they have a taste for human flesh.

This has caused the world to become a sort of wasteland. The government is trying g to develop a cure which they believe rests withing we generation of infected children who although they crave human flesh they retain their intellect and are able to learn.

These children are schooled at a US Army base where they are taught by a freindly teacher Helen. Helen discovers Maggie, a child with an exceptionally high IQ who can resist her cravings for human flesh. The two form a bond which infuriates the commanding officer.

See the government is doing research to the children by removing their brain and spinal cords in the hopes of creating a vaccine. When Helen learns of this her and Maggie escape in hopes of finding a sanctuary in London.

The film does well in adding drama and human element to the oversaturated Zombie genre that we have had surge in every sense the Walking Dead debuted years ago. Girl With All The Gifts is a warm welcome for horror fans by trying something g different.

The acting, Glen Close in particular is fantastic. All the actors share a chemistry that really stands out in the horror realm.

The audio and picture are outstanding and helps set the tone for the post apocalyptic world we are welcomed into.

Great acting, great story, something new and fresh all make this a must watch.

Overall 3.5 out of 5 Stars
