Throne Of Atlantis 4K Review

11/23/2018

The following 4K was provided to me by Warner Brother for review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

Justice League Throne of Atlantis is yet another amazing DC Animated film that was released back in 2015. Now in celebration of the new Aquaman film it's getting a 4K release. It's one of the best Animated films to date, and it serves as not only another Justice League film but the origin of Arthur Curry aka Aquaman.

When a submarine containing nuclear missiles crew is murdered and the warheads are missing the Justice League come to investigate. Wonder Woman notices the markings of Atlantian soldiers. We soon find out that Prince Orm of Atlantis and his right hand man Black Manta have stolen them in hopes of attacking all the humans who live on land. Black Manta takes it a step farther by attacking Atlantis with the stolen missiles so he can frame all the humans on earth.

Queen Atlanna does not want war and has her men get a human dweller named Arthur Curry and bring him to Atlantis. Turns out Arthur is her son from a human father and she hopes that he can help bring peace between the world's. Arthur is brought in to Atlantis but his mother is killed by Prince Orm. Luckily the entire Justice League, and even Shazam is there to help Arthur become Aquaman and defeat Orm, Manta, and stop The Atlantians from destroying earth.

This is a fantastic story that I hope carries over to the live action film. The voice acting is tremendous, with Nathan Fillian being a stand out in his portrayal of Green Lantern. The writing is top notch. It's taken from the comic book arc that was split between Justice League and Aquaman. As is the case with all the DC Animated films, it's of course fantastic, but parents just note it is very violent in spots.

The 4K release is amazing. It looked great on Blu-ray and looks better on 4K. The colors pop right out of your screen. This is one of the more colorful DC Cartoons so it's a fantastic choice for a 4K transfer. The ocean scenes are simply breath taking. The sounds pulse out of your surround sound. It's simply amazing.

If you own the Blu-ray this is a true step up. I plan on getting all of the DC Animated films on 4K as they come out. There animated films are simply leaps and bounds above the rest. This is a great introduction to Aquaman. I can only hope the film can compare to this one.

Overall 4 out of 5 Stars
