The next Die Hard movie is going to give us double the John McClane.
Nearly two years after it was announced producers were working on a part-prequel, part sequel instalment, director Len Wiseman has confirmed that Bruce Willis is now officially on board.
Wiseman's movie will be a parallel story featuring Bruce Willis reprising his iconic role as John McClane in the present day, and a new actor playing the vigilante during his younger years as a New York cop.
"The right casting for this role is crucial," Wiseman told Deadline. "Those bare feet have some very big shoes to fill."
Casting is currently underway but there have been no decisions yet on who will play the young John McClane. Wiseman previously directed the 2007 instalment Live Free or Die Hard.
Bruce Willis last played McClane in 2013's A Good Day to Die Hard, which paired him with Jai Courtney on a father-and-son mission into the heart of Russian organised crime.
A Good Day to Die Hard was overwhelmingly panned by critics upon release four years ago, but still managed to make more than $300 million worldwide by the time of its home video release.
