Well it's time for another Diamond Select review. I really enjoy writing these as yes, it's an excuse to play with figures as an adult. Today I will be covering figures from their Ghostbusters line. This line was the hit of Toy Fair not only because all of the figures look great, but because they contain more pieces to build the Rooftop diorama. You know the iconic finally battling place from the film.
For starters as you can see, yes I have these figures. I like to post the pics for the fact I see lots of reviews for things that people don't even own. I actually have these and can firsthand tell you about them.
Starting thing off is Dana Barret as Zuul. This figure, is the spitting evil image of Sigourney Weaver. If you look closely you an even see the white out eyes the character had when she was possessed. Featuring 16 points of articulation Dana comes with a section of the rooftop diorama that is going to look amazing when built. I watched the movie last night to prepare for this review, and I must say that the dress that Dana has in the film was perfectly sculped and painted in this figure.
Up next we go to my personal favorite of this bunch the Zombie Taxi Driver. This thing just looks cool. A gnarly ass zombie in a tattered driving outfit missing a shoe but wearing a hat just screams awsome. He even comes with a steering wheel. I don't care who you are a zombie with a steering wheel belongs in your home on display. If your a horror fan in general this figure is a must have. He also comes with a rooftop piece.
Walter Peck is up next, and I must say this looks just like William Atherton, you know the actor who played him. Anyway the design of the figure is a perfect match even down to the ugly tie and annoying smirk on his face. I want to get the Bruce Willis Pulp Fiction figure and use it to beat up the Walter Peck figure it's so life-like. Yes that was a Die Hard reference. Peck comes with a piece of the rooftop
Gozer The Destructor is a thing if beauty as well. She comes with a different head and a set of hands as well as a piece of the rooftop. The figure is sculpted to perfection as well. The bubbles covering her are spot on just like in the film, and her face is done to portray pure evil.
Another favorite of mine is the first ghost the guys encountered, The Library Ghost. Just like the Zombie Taxi Driver this is another gotta have and display for horror fans. She comes with, you guessed it a piece of the roof, and some evil looking books. From the flowing messed up hair, the tattered dress, and the gnarly looking fans it looks amazing. No feet so it has the floating apperently which makes it even more menacing. This looks identical to the Spector in the film.
Janine Melnitz is another photo image figure. It looks just like Annie Potts did for the film. With the tacky removable glasses to the smirk type smile on her face it's amazing how similar the resemblance is. Janine comes with her part or the rooftop, a different set of hands, a phone, and the iconic buzzer used to set off the alarm that called The Ghostbusters to action.
The Terror Dog is also here. I want to get another one of these so I can stand one on each side of my desk. It looks lie evil come to life. With an extra set of horns included it can be either Zuul or Vinz Clortho. Standing on all fours with it's mouth hanging open to show it's giant fangs it almost captures the claymation look and design of the film. However this does look better that the film as the effects are slightly dated. He also comes with a piece of the rooftop.
And finally we have The Slimed Peter Venkman that looks identical, and I do mean identical to Bill Murray. Featuring Venkman covered in slime with his mouth open getting to say the iconic "he Slimed me" line this is a true work of art. Packaged with a set of glove hands, a walkie talkie, proton pack with stream, and a piece of the rooftop diorama this is one of the best figures of the Ghostbusters bunch. The resemblance to Murry is uncanny.
All of the figures feature 16 points of articulation and are the highest of quality and a must own for any Ghostbusters fan or toy collector. These figures as you can tell look amazing and would fantastic on and display shelf. Throw in the fact that when you get them all you will have a giant rooftop battle diorama to display them with.
Want to play with them, go ahead like all Diamond Select items there durable, can move anyway you want them to, and standing at the 7" mark they can inneract with basically any toy. My son loves incorporating them with his WWE figures
