Thanks to a built-in fanbase, it seemed probable that Mayans M.C. would be a hit when it premiered on FX. The show is a spinoff of Sons of Anarchy, a Kurt Sutter series that regularly brought in good ratings numbers during its original run. Now, the numbers for the first episode of Mayans M.C. are official, and wouldn't you know it, the show is already hitting some impressive milestones over at FX and doing pretty solid numbers overall. In fact, so far over 6.8 million viewers have checked out the premiere.
In addition to the large number of total viewers--at least when compared to plenty of other cable to shows, according to the cable network, Mayans M.C. has already beat out the original Sons of Anarchy premiere in the ratings. That's somewhat to be expected, as the spinoff already has fans showing up who enjoyed the other motorcycle club-based series. Still, I'm sure Kurt Sutter, co-creator Elgin James and the rest of the cast are happy to hear people are still interested in this type of show. Beyond beating Sons by a whopping 64% in total viewers when comparing premieres, FX also says the show did well in Live+3 ratings, becoming the most-watched cable series premiere in the 18-24 and 25-54 demos.
Mayans M.C airs on Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET, only on FX
