From Screenrant Suicide Squad 2 is being fast-tracked by Warner Bros. as they look to the future of the DC Extended Universe. Although it still doesn’t have a director locked in to helm the project, the studio is obviously confident that they can quickly produce a sequel. Since the DCEU was officially launched in 2016 with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, fans and critics alike have criticized the studio’s attempt at a shared universe. The DCEU is developing a number of films further down the line including Nightwing, Batgirl, Shazam, Cyborg, Green Lantern Corps, and Suicide Squad 2. Previously, Mel Gibson had been in talks to helm Suicide Squad 2, but with no official confirmation it doesn’t seem like he’ll be taking the reins. Guy Ritchie has also mentioned that he’d be interested in taking the role, but there has been no word on the status of that either. Harley Quinn and The Joker are reportedly going to return, including the main cast from Suicide Squad. With the villainous couple being two of the most popular characters in comics, it’s no surprise Warner Bros. wants the characters in as many films as possible. Comments are closed.
