Blade, a tough-as-nails half-vampire made famous by Wesley Snipes. There has been discussion (mostly among fans) of getting Marvel to reboot Blade for quite some time, and now Snipes seems to think that he's still the man for the job if it ever comes to that. Snipes tweeted:
When anyone asks "Who could be the next Blade?"you already know there's only one Blade fam! #Blade So if another Blade movie enters development, it looks like Wesley Snipes has no interest in letting the character go from his hands to another. The 55-year-old actor's tweet suggests that he's still willing to don the leather and sunglasses of the badass vampire hunter, and we think it's safe to say that this revelation is going to get fans very excited about the future of the character -- even if nothing is set in stone yet. If anyone at Marvel Studios decides that this is something worth pursuing, then there would be a few possible directions in which to take Wesely Snipes as Blade. One option would be to retroactively classify the three previous Bladefilms (or at least one of them), as canon in the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, another option would be to just cast him as a new incarnation of the same character and not even mention the earlier years of his run as Blade. That may seem bizarre, but it's worth mentioning that the X-Men universe did that with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool -- even poking fun at X-Men Origins: Wolverine -- and the James Bond franchise did the same thing by keeping Judi Dench around as M in Casino Royale.
