Horror movies usually leave you with questions, heck almost all of them are open ended. People are always wondering something, like how come Michael Myers can't be killed? How does Chuckie keep getting rebuilt? Sure all of these are good questions, but the true mystery in horror is who paid for Jason's tombstone?
If you recall in Friday the 13th 6 Tommy and Horshack go to Jason's grave in the cemetery. Now this took place back in 1986 so an average crate coffin like Jason was buried in would have been around $400.00 now keep in mind there are also burial costs and funeral costs. I'm going to assume that no funeral was done as no one probably knew what religious denomination Jason had, and as he was buried in his old killing cloths he probably never went to an undertaker, which I believe is illegal as dead bodies need embalming. So that aside it would have cost still around $2,500.00 for the burial in the cemetery.
Now as you can see in the picture above. He has a nice medium sized upright tombstone with engraving that alone back in 86 would still have ran about 1,500.00 and believe me I'm being low on that cost. So now we are up to $44,00.00 that's a nice piece of change. So now I ask who paid for it?
His mom was long dead, so she would not have had any estate money, and as her body is still most likely in Jason's cabin she would not have been receiving any state funded money as the government would not have had her address. Sure to the world she may have been listed as alive, as Jason kept her body but no money would have ever been placed anywhere for her
Plus she was dead so she couldn't have paid for it.
Some say maybe it was his dad, but how would he have known. If you recall Pamela still wore Elias Voorhees's class ring but she was no longer married to him, and he was not part of Jason's life. Now let's say buy some slim chance he was notified that his son had died would he have really paid for the tombstone and cemetery plot? I assume he never paid child support, I think it's also a safe bet he would not want to admit his son was an evil serial killer. And for that matter we don't even know he was alive.
Another theory is the town paid for it as a sense of closure. But there is a fine line there as well. For starters one person by law would have to take legal possession of the body and assume all rights and responsibility's regarding the burial, and any other legal, and medical procedures. I don't think anyone in there right mind would do that for Jason Voorhees.
Let's also say that the town just chipped in and paid for it and everything else was over looked. Now why would a town have paid one penny on a mass murdered. If anything they would have thrown him in a ditch or just burned him. So that theory is completely unplausable.
So who is the mystery man or woman who paid for this monsters grave? I don't think we will ever find out. Now if for some reason you know the answer and have a theory please let me know
