Will The New Green Ranger Be Female?

If you went and saw the new Power Ranger film you know that Rita Repulsa used to be a Power Ranger before she became evil.  You also can clearly see she wearing green and inside her staff is a green power crystal.

If you stay after the credits (Spoiler ahead) you know they show a green jacket in detention and call the name "Tommy Oliver" the name of the original Green Ranger.

However its being heavily rumored that the new Green Ranger will be a girl.  In fact the cast is apparently lobbying for it.  They never showed Tommy so it could be a female, maybe "Tammy Oliver"  guess we will find out soon as part 2 is rumored to begin scripting as soon as tomorrow.
