Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive… The Man of Steel fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way.
From his blue uniform to his flowing red cape to the "S" shield on his chest, Superman is one of the most immediately recognizable and beloved DC Super Heroes of all time. The Man of Steel is the ultimate symbol of truth, justice, and hope. He is the world's first Super Hero and a guiding light to all. The last survivor of the doomed planet Krypton, raised in the quiet heartland of Smallville, Kansas, Superman is as much a legend as he is a man: the gold standard of heroism, compassion and responsibility.
Though his powers make him god-like next to his human compatriots, Superman's story is not one of greed or conquest. Instead, he strives to represent the inherent goodness of the human spirit, and the capacity of every living thing to do right by their neighbors.
Let's start with the face. The head looks fine as does the hair, jet black with the trademark curl front and center. Strong jaw line and I must say this is spot on to the comic book likeness. Which is great because I hate the look in the new films. A stern look is on Superman's face as he is watching over Metropolis. The slight dimple is in his chin and the shading is amazing. Sleek like a comic book but almost real in the same sense. Moving down a bit you see the The "S" is in full effect on the chest it's sculpted out a bit to give it the look it's popping off the costume. The painting around it has a lot of slight shading which accents the big red S. I love that as the logo on Supermans chest needs to really pop out. I think it was done perfectly. The torso is great showing off all the muscles and the smooth like design of the suite. I can't get over how the color adds to it. I can't stress enough how much I enjoy the bright colors that were used. I love the folded arms as well. Sure they cover the "S" a bit but they add to the look of the piece itself
Moving down a bit you a great example of not only the sculpting but the cape backdrop as well. You can see all of the muscles underneith the costume. Not only does that give it a realistic look but it captures the flavor of the comic books, as all the heros have always been drawn that way. Notice the size of the cape. It flows down, and out, with twists and turns sculpted throughout to give it the appearance of it blowing in the wind. Superman has his bright yellow belt on right above his trademark red trunks. This just blows my mind how accurate it is to the books
Speaking of the cape look at how beautiful it is. It's simply amazing the detail that went into it. From the molding to the shades incorporated throughout to give it that flying 3D effect it's truly georgeous. I love how it even has the big indent towards the bottom like it's wind blowing back from closing in on the ground. The cape is definitely my favorite part of the design I also love how they kept the big yellow "S" in the triangle in the cape. The new films did away with that which is a shame as it's such an iconic look.
The base is a big cloud. You can see how Superman is hovering just above it with his legs slightly bent. The cloud looks great puffy, all over the place very realistic for a comic design statue. Whit, blue, and a touch of grey shading all make it come together. Also notice his boots bright red like the cape. This really is one of the best Superman pieces I've ever seen.
This is yet another fantastic piece to add to your DC collection, or statue collection in general. It looks exactly like it's comic book counterpart and it will look great with your other pieces. Pick one up today.
