Wade Wilson, a former Special Forces soldier, is now a mercenary for hire living a quiet life. Newly diagnosed with terminal cancer, he is approached by a mysterious man with a promising cure. The treatment leaves Wade with accelerated healing powers but grossly disfigured. Wade adopts the alter ego Deadpool and searches for the man behind the project that nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool was a one of a kind film. Combining adult humor, over the top bloody action, and of course Marvels wise cracking superhero Deadpool. Its no shock that the film became a hit with essentially everyone. The comic book fans loved it, the average people loved it, it was a smash hit. I personally loved it. I though it was one of the best films of 2016. I loved the sequel as well. And now I can’t wait until part 3. It’s a great series, and Deadpool is a great character. I’m a huge fan of the comic books as well. I have many statues of Deadpool in my home and now thanks to Diamond Select Toys I have a big resin piece that was inspired from the film.

Staring at the top you can see this is a dead ringer for the movie version. Black and red, and as in the films the outfit is sort of a leather style as opposed to the spandex style in the comics you can see this is an exact match. The head is spot on. Red that looks like leather. You can seethe molding has a nose sculpted in as well as where the ears would be. In fact the molding is even done to make it look as if the eyes are slightly frowning. That’s great detail. The trademark black outline around the eyes is there as well as the white eyeball holes. You can see the stitching etched in the masks as well. The seam lines around the eyes and side is there as well. You even get the impression that his mouth is slightly open. You can see the black collar separating the head and torso. The costume is the same red and black design. Made to look like a combination of leather and Kevlar. You can see all the lines, stitching, and even a few bullet hole marks on the left side. The leather strap that holds Deadpool’s swords is done to look exactly like leather as well. Even the buckle is in full effect. This is a spot on match to the film.
Picture
Moving down you can see this is taken from the opening scene where Deadpool is making his drawing over the railways of the freeway. His hands are holding his red crayon just like in the film. You can see that the fingers are all individually sculpted. Deadpool is doing his drawing of him shooting Francis with blood and bullets flying everywhere. You can see Deadpool’s belt with his brown leather pouches as well as his trademark red buckle. All of his weapons attachments are there as well. From his leg gun belts to his swords. I love how they etched in so may little groves and lines to make his out fit look like body armor. Plus the shading is fantastic. He’s a bright red and bright black, but there are lots of different variations of red and hints of faded black shaded in through the entire piece to really make it look not only battle damaged but to make it look exactly like it would in the real world. This really dose look like a real person in the costume.

You can see the positioning here on this side shot of Deadpool kicking his legs up sitting on the freeway arch. He actually slides into the arch with doubles as the base and his held in position. You can see all the detail in the black parts of the leather like outfits in this angle. Notice how its made to be a bit sleeker than the red parts. Under the light I have you can see how it shines. You can see Deadpool’s gun in his leg holster. You also get a great look at Deadpool’s swords from this shot. Both of which are detailed from the handles all the way down. The placement used for this is fantastic. I love the way he rests into the piece at an angel. I love how he is actually sitting back with his legs just kicking in the wind. It matches the opening shot perfectly.

The back gives you a great look at the swords. From the back holster to the leather strap that holds it, they look real. There also real world big as they take up the vast majority of his back. All the same amazing detail goes into the back as well. This is an amazing design and I love how you can see the black areas shines in the light. You get a great look at the freeway overpass Deadpool is sitting on as well. I love how they even included his little radio complete with “Wade” sticker on it. As well as a blue and black crayons. The overpass section, which as I stated doubles as the base is highly detailed as well. It looks like real pipe. Grey and black with variations of both colors used for shading it’s a spot on concrete match. You can see all the little cracks and weather marking that come over time sculpted into this piece. Its highly detailed and I really enjoy how it is simply part of the piece as opposed to just the base. It really brings back memories of that classic opening scene where Deadpool leaps into action.

Fans of the film, and Deadpool fans in general will no doubt want to pick this one up. I have him next to my Hobgoblin and Daredevil and he looks right at home. Its highly detailed and a spot on match of his films counterpart. Just beware this is a limited edition statue. Only 3000 of these were made so if you want one you better act fast. I love it and I highly recommend adding one to your collection.

Overall 5 out of 5 Stars!
