Incredible Hulk Resin Marvel Premier COllecttion Statue from Diamond Select Toys Review

3/8/2021

Picture
Dr. Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk is an American theoretical physicist, famed for his work into the studies of nuclear physics and gamma radiation. He was recruited by General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and the US Army to develop the first Gamma Bomb. During its first live test he was bombarded with a massive dose of gamma rays while saving Rick Jones, a kid who was out on the test site. He was mutated into a green behemoth, the living personification of rage, fueled by pure physical strength and would come to be known as nearly mindless "Incredible Hulk". Fearful of the damage that Hulk could inflict, as well as fleeing from the military, he went on the run. He later found a home among the Avengers, the Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Who doesn’t love the Hulk? I mean come on he’s a big giant green rage monster. He gets mad, he grows big and turns green and smashed anyone who come sin his way. I will admit I was never a huge reader of the comics, I mean I would always enjoy when he would pop up in other heroes stories but I never collected him on a regular basis. I do however love him in the Avengers films. In fact he was probably my favorite character in the first Avenger movie. Now for the huge amount of Marvel statues I have I never had a Hulk. Now thanks to Diamond Select Toys that has all changed. They have just released a massive and I do mean massive resin statue that depicts the Hulk from the classic comic book series.
Picture
Let’s start out with the face. Squinty eyes, etched in bowl haircut the growling mouth, and the torso I have seen on a statue His neck and chest muscles are so huge his head is small. The head looks amazing. The sloping forehead and bunched up eyes really add an emphasis of power as the Hulk is getting ready to smash someone of something. The eyes look great. There a bit hard to see with that sloping forehead but there are a crisp white color and a very peaceful blue, complete with black pupil. You can see all the work that went into the sculpting of this peace in just the head alone. A huge amount of detail in not only the sloping of the forehead but the indents on the cheeks and the smashing of the nose to really hit home the amount of force the blow he is about strike is going to hurt. His teeth a individually sculpted and pure white, you even see a few areas of red where his gums are. The lips are of course green as well but shaded a bit darker to highlight them. As I mentioned this is a hulking piece to say the least. The body looks fantastic. Very detailed in terms of muscle mass. You can even see the “stretching: of the skin around the center of the chest as his arm positioning has the chest muscles extra tightened. The shading of dark and pale blacks really add to the composition of the muscles.
Picture
Moving down you can see the muscles in full effect. As I mention they are sculpted to look like the real thing but on a larger scale. The abs are sticking out and are rippling to say the least., yet you can also see these muscles under the outfit, and by outfit I mean the trademark ripped purple shorts. Another nice touch is the molding of the costume in general. Notice how it gets wrinkled under the ab muscles. Also take notice of the wrinkles sculpted in under the belt line where it is ripped and frayed . You can see by looking at the legs how I mentioned this is designed to look almost like a spandex material. You can see all the stitch markings etched in throughout it. It really does match the comic book version perfectly. Its done in the elephant skin style that I love so much as it looks so amazing under the lights. Unfortunately this piece was way to big for my picture box so your not getting the full effect. As you can still see though all the muscles are not only sculpted on the exposed parts, but under the shorts as well. Everything is overly anatomically correct so to speak as the Hulk is one of Marvels biggest characters. I really also like the addition of the rip on the left leg exposing the green muscle on the leg. This is a big piece for sure, and definitely wide.
Picture
This side shot give you a great look at the ribs and arms and all the work that went into this piece. Every rib muscles is popping out and if you look close you can even see how the waist is done smaller that the rest of the body to give a bodybuilders symmetry. It’s incredibly well done. The arms are massive. Muscles overly exaggerated and bulging out every way imaginable. You can even see the veins running through the arms and the stomach area as well for that matter. The placement of the hands behind the head forming a fist give the impression that an ax handle is coming someone or somethings way soon. You can even notice the sculpting on the left around the exposed calve muscles. Overly done to show off the hulks size but perfectly correct tin terms of muscle placement. Even the calves has veins running through them. This entire piece is just on an entirely different level when it comes to mass. Its one of the wider pieces I have seen, in fact I put this right under Diamond Selects new Thanos in terms of size and scope, and as this is the Hulk that’s exactly how it should be.
Picture
The back shot shows off more of the muscles sculpted through this gigantic piece. I love the look of the skin flexing out with the muscles popping at the same time. It really adds to the look of anger the Hulk has. Every deltoid, and flexor is perfectly done just on a gamma level of size. The shading is great as well. Green, with hints of dark green and faint black to bring it all together. You can see the shorts are designed perfectly from the back as well. The back pockets are sculpted in and you can see the seams and stitching just like in real shorts. You also get a great look at the Hulks feet. Notice how big they are. Every toe is individually sculpted out and you can see there even shaded in a few variation of a yellowish green and brown to give him that dirty barefoot look, which is a fantastic touch. I like how they went all out making the feet as big as the rest. It showcases the amount of time and effort that Diamond Select puts into these statues.
Picture
The base is a simple rock formation, but before I get to that lets check out the leg. As you saw in the side shot this is a well sculpted leg to say the least. Every muscle is fully flexed as the Hulk is getting ready to spring into action. Not only can you see all the muscles but you can see the high amount of veins flowing throughout the are as well. Some look as though they are ready to pop. The leg is leaned against a rock formation that in very well done. The base itself is basic rock style, in fact judging by the looks or it is a combination of rock and rubble from battle. A deep and at the same time faded grey. It’s filled with cracks, scratches and markings to look like real rock, or at the very least some type on concrete. From there it is raised into almost rubble. You can see that same grey rock formation style that’s raised into larger chunks that are more of a very light almost tan and faded grey and black. All designed to be fully cracked and damaged throughout. It’s a very detailed piece. It’s also just the right size and color as to not take anything away from Hulk himself.

This is one big slick piece.  If you’re a Hulk fan, or Marvel fan in general it’s a must have for your collection.  It’s the most comic book accurate piece I have seen of the Hulk to date.  Now keep in mind these are limited.  Only 3000 of these are being made.  You can still get your pre orders in so I recommend doing it fast.
