Mandalorian Beskar Resin Statue Review

3/31/2021

Picture
Beginning five years after the events of Return of the Jedi and the fall of the Galactic Empire, The Mandalorian follows Din Djarin, a lone Mandalorian bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. He is hired by remnant Imperial forces to retrieve the child Grogu, but instead goes on the run to protect the infant. While looking to reunite Grogu with his kind, they are pursued by Moff Gideon, who wants to use Grogu's connection to the Force. The Mandalorians' bloody history made their armor an iconic symbol of fear. Mandalorian armor was made from beskar, which was one of the strongest metals in the galaxy. Beskar could protect the wearer from blasters and even lightsabers. The bounty hunter Jango and his cloned son, Boba Fett wore customized Mandalorian armor, which was made with a beskar alloy.

If I told you I watched The Mandalorian I would be lying. My son watches it. In fact he’s a big fan, and this statue now resides in his game room. I remember Boba Fett from the original films and always thought the outfit was cool, so I can say that this version is fantastic in terms of style. It’s a very sleek piece that I was happy to review. Just forgive me if I get a few of the terms wrong
Picture
The head is the helmet in full effect. This outfit, which is the Beskar style is dark and light silver with just a touch of black here and there. You can see the pointed down helmet which looks very menacing. You can also see how sleek it is, shining under the lights. A dark silver and the top and sides with lighter silver around where the cheeks would be it’s a very polarizing look. The black eye visors going down the center to the bottom really makes this look stunning. You can see the torso armor is done the same way. The chest, and shoulder plate are done in an almost metallic silver with a darker silver towards the bottom. The shirt itself underneath the armor plate is also a shade of faint silver. You can see the weapons belt and shoulder chest strap in full effect with 4 shells in the holster. Two are missing and no doubt are the two loaded in the Mandalorian’s gun. The strap as well as the belt is a deep brown with plenty of etching and shading to give it a real leather look. You can see the detail that went into the belt with all the buttons, and even a scuffed up worn buckle, that I must point out is a silver color as well. The piece really does flow nicely.

The bottom shows off more of the two colored armor. A deep silver done for the pants but a lighter, yet still dark like the top half armor wise. You can see the plate on the right leg in the his area as well as on the left leg. The left part is a bit different as it has some brown leather added to is as it also serves as a hip holster for a pistol. I like how its battle damaged. You can see the scuffing on the plate itself, as well as in the leather attachment. The sculpting on the hip holster is phenomenal. Every seam and stich is etched in to make it look as real as possible. The pants are done remarkably well also. Every line and wrinkle is molded throughout. I love the attention to detail showing the bunching around the boots showing how they would look tucked inside in real life. The boots are a brown color as well matching the belt and holsters. For a piece done of only a few colors this really comes across as bright and stunning.

The side shot gives you a glimpse of the blaster the Mandalorian is using. You can see the armor done on the forearm, which is the same sleek silver as the rest. All the designs and linings are sculpted into it as well. You can see the undershirt is done in a bunched up look by the elbow where the arm is bent, which really shows off the attention to detail used in this piece. The hand is in a fingerless glove with armor around it. Each finger is individually sculpted with a tight squeeze on the trigger emphasized. The blaster is smooth and black and for its size it looks very imposing. Aimed out and tipped down just a tad with the finger on the trigger really give this a bad ass look to say the least.

I can’t stress enough from the back how good this cape looks. Hanging down yet still almost blowing in the wind as The Mandalorian is ready for battle i. Once again notice all the small etchings and lines throughout all the bends and folds. You can even see the back blow on the cape from where it is blowing out and behind the outfit itself. . The cape is definitely a huge part of this overall outfit, and this is just spot on. Look at the shoulders where the cape is lifting up with the body. That’s an attention to detail you don’t see very often. It has a majestic look as opposed to the standard superhero cape designs. From flowing up and around the shoulders, to wrapping around the arms, to hanging to the side this is a fantastic cape that really adds to the design. I must also point out the detail that went into the right arm. Look at all the wrinkles, bends and folds just like a real outfit would have with a bent back arm. This looks like a million dollars and from what I can tell is spot on from the show.

The base is basic rock style, in fact judging by the looks or it is a combination of rock and rubble from battle. A reddish brown with black scratches filled with cracks, and markings to look like real rock, or at the very least some type on concrete. All designed to be fully cracked and damaged throughout. It’s a very detailed piece. It’s also just the right size and color as to not take anything away from The Mandalorian himself. You also get a great look at his boots in this shot. The boots are leather but padded to give it an armored like look for extra protection. Like the other armored parts it matches everything perfectly. This is a very cool choice for a base as it brings a touch of color to the piece, without taking anything away from the statue itself.

Like I said I don’t watch the show, I’ve seen a bit here and there but I can confirm this is spot on in terms of likeness. As I said my son is a big fan and he displayed this the second it came. If you’re a fan then this is a must have piece. Now keep in mind this is a limited edition resin piece. Only 3000 are being made so act fast as they will be gone quick.

Overall 5 out of 5 Stars!
