Wanda is from an alternate reality known as Earth-3010. Wade Wilson of Earth-616 met her while on a mission to return Headpool back to his home dimension. Wanda was battling Captain America (later General America), who was trying to enforce the fascist laws set in place by the United States Government. Wanda was able to escape capture, when Wade hurled Headpool at General America, allowing him to bite the arm of the other-world hero. Deadpool severed the arm from Captain Americas body to stop the spread of the zombie virus. Deadpool left Wanda's dimension taking the infected arm with him.
Wanda Wilson aka Lady Deadpool is an awesome character. I mean come on. Her origin basically starts off that she wont leave her house because she hates the sun, but when her cable goes out she goes outside and gets recruited into a secret organization. She really is the female Deadpool. Check out her Marvel Wiki its hilarious to say the least. I have multiple Deadpool Statues, but only one Lady Deadpool. So when Diamond Select announced they were making a limited edition Resin statue of Lady Deadpool I knew I would have to have it sitting next to my many Deadpool Pieces.
Staring at the head you can see she is not disfigured like Wade Wilson. She is designed to be a typical comic book bombshell in terms of body and looks. Her Hair is blond and sculpted into a pony tail at the top of her mask flowing behind her head with just a touch of blowback sculpted in. It’s a golden blond like in the books with waves throughout Etched to give it depth but still sleek to look like the comics its shaded in a very faint black to give it depth. You can see she’s half masked. her lips are a cherry red to give her that trademark look. She is turned to the side to give it a nice over the shoulder look and feel. The half hood is identical to Deadpool red and black with pure white eye holes. The mask, like the rest of the outfit is done in that elephant skin style to make it appear to be Kevlar in nature. You can see the seams molded into the mask with a slight lift right where it ends above the nose. You can see there are real would muscles sculpted but the outfit itself is painted to be sleek and smooth like the comic book drawings. I love how it is done armor style in the red and the black is a padded look complete with all the stitching sculpted in especially in the shoulder area.
Moving to the body you can see what I was stating about the sleek design but with a few wrinkles that are sculpted in. There are a few above her chest (which is done in pin up style) and a few around the waist where her leg is bending forward. Not too much, just enough to add to the realism. The outfit is bright candy apple red and black for the variance on the arms and legs, all done very bright, but not enough to make it look like a cartoon. No this matches the comic version perfectly. You can see the wrinkles are primarily done around the leg and chest area, which really does break up the monotony and give the piece contrast. I love how this is basically 2 colors, but everything is done to really make it all stand out. The body is done perfectly. Sculpted to look just like Wanda does in the books. I really like how Diamond Select can make the same character look like a drawing come to life You can see her belt, with the Deadpool face for the buckle and the brown weapons pockets throughout. It’s her utility belt and it looks great. It matches her two leg straps for her guns. The shading done throughout the body is fantastic. It highlights every muscle and curve under the outfit. Its even done in such a way you can see where Wanda’s Ab muscles are.
This side shot is interesting to say the least. Lady Deadpool is not clutching a gun or a sword, no she’s grasping a teddy bear. Not sure why, other than to be funny, which it is. You can see like in all of these pieces from Diamond the fingers are all sculpted separately. I like to point that out because there are lots of pieces that just paint lines where the fingers separate. Diamond Select makes everything just perfect. Wands arm is hanging straight down clutching the arm of her bear. The bear itself looks great. In fact the way its etched and shaded in it looks like a real stuffed animal. If you look close the bear looks to be sleeping. The eyebrows on it are slightly raised and the eyeholes look small and down. With the little mouth painted on it is actually very peaceful, which is ironic as below him on the floor in a gun and slice of pizza. You kind of go from calm to chaos with in a split second.
This back shot shows off some of the muscles sculpted in. Her hair, which is smooth, yet still has some etching to it is twisting to the left giving the impression its blowing in the wind even though it’s in a pony tail You can see a few, very few, wrinkled molded into the outfit as well. Not many as it has that comic book sleek style to it but just a few for placement. Around the armpit area, and again a slight one at the waist where she is twisting slightly to the side. You can also see her one empty shoulder holster where her sword goes. It’s empty because she is currently holding one of them. You also get a nice look at the design of her utility belt. You can see how it’s done to look like smooth brown leather with the button on each one. You also see the stitching lines in the outfit around the leg area. It’s a great touch to sculpt in those things then simply paint it smooth to look like the comic book style. his really is a well done piece that stands out. I love the detail done on the sword as well. The brown and golden handle with the long sleek silver blade. I also really like how its being held behind her almost resting on her shoulder as she has it ready to strike.
The base is a complete and utter mess, which is not a bad thing. It’s a round circle which I assume is simply a section of Wanda’s floor. Its is littered in trash. A pizza box featuring three slices of what appears to be pepperoni pizza with a knife laying on them. A crushed soda can lays in the top of the box. Looking over you can see one of her shoes next to another box that has a gun as well as another slice of pizza on it. Other various apers and trash pieces are scattered throughout the base. I like how it’s a cluttered up mess. It highlights the calamity that Lady Deadpool brings, and the fact it’s a combination of pizza and guns with a knife might I add really looks insane and definitely out of the ordinary. It’s the most comical base I have seen on any piece and really does add a whole new element to this piece.
This is a great piece and it is limited to say the least. 3000 of these are available. So you will need to order one fast as they won’t last long. Wanda Wilson aka Lady Deadpool is a great character so I was excited to add her to my collection. If you’re a fan you will definitely want to hunt this down. If you are a Deadpool collector this will look great in your collection. Go and grab one today before they are all gone.
Overall 5 out of 5 Stars.
