A 4-year Vietnam veteran, Frank Castle became a vigilante after seeing his wife and children gunned down for accidentally observing a Mafia "hit". Since then, he has devoted his life to the task of destroying organized crime wherever he finds it. Although he aids many heroes in their quests, they often come into conflict over his way of dealing with crime. At first, the Punisher was conceived by his creator, Gerry Conway, as a potential recurring antagonist for Spider-Man; however, his 1974 debut was critically acclaimed, and he became an anti-hero in the Marvel universe and an uneasy ally of The Wall Crawler. Throughout the years, the Punisher has appeared in the books of other Marvel heroes, such as Captain America, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, and many more.
I love the Punisher he is my second favorite Marvel comics character (Daredevil is number one) He’s the ultimate 80’s badass who is still taking out criminals with a vengeance in 2019. His attitude, methods, and means have not changed. You break the law, he takes you out, permanently. His comic book run has been nothing short of amazing. He has been drawn by multiple artists over the years. His overall look has not changed much. From a blue skull outfit, to a black skull outfit to finally a skull shirt with a trench coat the skull has always been the focal point of the outfit
You can see the frown molded into the face with the chin protruding out. The eyebrows are slanted down to further add to the steel look the Punisher is giving. I love the addition of the band aid on the nose. It adds to the badass factor. If you look you can see the band aids on his arms as well. It’s a cool touch for a statue done in this style. For a sleek piece its got a nice amount of etching and shading to it. You can see the bumps above the eyebrows as well as the frown lines and indents in the cheek area. It actually looks like the bottom lip is being slightly bit by the top lip. The hair is the classic slicked back jet black style with one little curl hanging down to the left. Its cartoon like in essence but it still manages to capture the look and feel of the classic punisher we all know and love
Looking at the body its old school all the way. The skull on the outfit with the teeth being the holders on the belt. Slightly different than the old days where the belt was a series of bullets that made up the teeth. To me this is the definitive version of how the Punisher should look. It’s the classic look that us older guys remember and love. The skull is battle worn heavily with tons of washed out areas. The rest of the outfit is a smooth almost cartoon style . Covered in black and grey wrinkles and speckles you can tell this guy has been in a war. You can see the muscles under the shirt, and the straps of the gun belts on the shoulder as well as the knife strap to the top of the shoulder are well rendered. It looks amazing. The gray and black shading look fantastic as it gives the statue a bit of depth. I enjoy the addition of the gun shot shells . I love how they are gold and red like a real shell. It not only adds to the overall massive amount of weapons The Punisher is carrying.
Moving to the side you get a good shot of all of Franks weapons. Grenades on the belt, shotgun on the back, gun on the leg, a real walking arsenal. You can see the biceps and triceps under the outfit. I love how it’s got the comic book design yet still follows the actual human body. The shotgun over the shoulder is a great touch and its perfectly sculpted. Black with the brown pump handle, all perfectly sculpted to look real. You can even see Frank has another gun, this on a rifle strapped to his back inside a zip up gun bag. The gloves, I want to point out, even have the seam sculpted into them on the side. You can see they are fingerless with each finger being individually sculpted. From the fully designed gun handle on the leg, to the wrinkles and scuffs in the outfit, this looks nice.
The bottom gives a good look at not only Franks dirty boots, which you can see have all the buckles and laces sculpted into them, but what looks to be his work area. Its appears to be like a garage floor. With a front page of the Daily Bugle showing the Kingpin and Matt Murdock, and scattered burned and charred money on the floor. Frank is standing with his feet firmly planted down. It’s a great idea for a base as the punisher has always been apart of the Daredevil and Kingpin world. Its also a great touch to have the entire floor scuffed up and cracked to further add to the grittiness of the piece.
I dig this statue. Old school Punisher with the white skull full of weapons. It’s actually my favorite Punisher piece that I own. I highly recommend picking this one up. With that said, this is a very limited piece and not many are left in stock. Gentle Giant still has a few left, so you better act fast. Grab one today.
